Settling into the Tea House & Nursery: Week One Reflections

Settling into the Tea House & Nursery: Week One Reflections

Greetings, MICOPEIA family!

It’s been an incredibly fulfilling first week at the Tea House & Nursery. I’ve been taking the time to ensure everything is properly sterilized and sanitized in the grow room. Clean air, optimal lighting, and a pristine environment are key to supporting our indoor growing efforts, and I’m committed to giving our herbs the best start possible.

I’ve also had the joy of spending this week with my best friend, Motorola (Mo) — my almost 5-year-old AmStaff. He’s been my loyal companion as I brought in shelves for the utility room, framed pictures to add warmth to the walls, and moved in some of our larger production equipment. Among the essential tools now in place are MICOPEIA’s essential oil distillation kit, our commercial grinder for hardwoods, dried mushrooms, and herbs, as well as the vacuum sealer and heat press for our in-house bulk herbs and merchandise. Every step forward has felt like a blessing.

Throughout the week, I’ll be sharing plenty of photos on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (@MICOPEIA). Expect snapshots of herb repotting, new seeds finding their home in the soil, and cozy moments of tea-making at the shop. It’s been a joy to sip on my favorite blends while getting the space ready, and I can’t wait to share those vibes with you all.

Support the Journey

We’ve raised $825 so far through our GoFundMe, and it’s only with your continued support that this journey remains possible. Every donation is a step toward building a thriving, community-centered space. And with my birthday on March 28 approaching, now is a wonderful time to contribute! I’ll be spending my birthday enjoying a peaceful hike with Mo (weather permitting) and soaking in the vibes at the tea shop, listening to music, reading, and simply being present.

Preparing for Spring Renewal

As the season shifts, it’s the perfect time for detoxing and renewal. In honor of this transition, I’ll be starting the 14-Day Parasite Cleanse that’s offered here at MICOPEIA, to clear space within for new growth. Spring reminds us to reset, and nature provides us with powerful allies for this purpose. After the cleanse, I'll be leaning on our Iron & Liver Support Tea and Watermelon Hibiscus Tea to further bring support and balance to my digestive system.

In the next blog post and this week’s newsletter, we’ll dive deeper into the detoxifying herbs that emerge at this time of year. Dandelion, Stinging Nettle, Purple Dead Nettle, and Burdock are just a few examples. These herbal allies support liver function and overall digestive health, making them ideal for cleansing; moreover, speaking of Dandelion, I’m thrilled that I was able to highlight this resilient herb in my latest book, The Kitchen and The Table: An Introduction to Herbalism. You can grab your copy directly from MICOPEIA.com or at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other major online retailers.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and enthusiasm. Let’s welcome this season of renewal together!

With love and gratitude,

R. A. Massey
